It is, however, a very serious excuse to wear the worst Christmas sweater you can find.

The Original Ugly Christmas Sweater Dash is an untimed holiday 5K built around one simple idea: wear something terrible and have a ridiculously good time doing it.
It's Port Coquitlam's ugly sweater run: a Christmas fun run and walk for families, friends and coworkers from across the Tri-Cities and Metro Vancouver. Register on Race Roster.
A fun-first 5K run/walk. Run it. Walk it. Push a stroller. Bring the family. Show up with a group of coworkers dressed like matching Christmas disasters. Nobody is asking you to set a personal best — unless your personal best is “ugliest sweater I've ever worn in public.”
Your ugliest Christmas sweater. Homemade is encouraged. Questionable taste is rewarded. Tinsel, lights, pom-poms, bells and unnecessarily elaborate accessories are all part of the fun.
The event is designed to be family friendly. Adults, youth and little dashers are welcome. Group participation is highly encouraged because ugly sweaters get significantly better when ten people are standing beside each other wearing them.
Stick around for the festive atmosphere, photos, community fun and the inevitable debate about who made the worst wardrobe decision. Final 2026 race-day programming and package-pickup information will be shared in the official event details.
